The Golden Age of Usability Design

Since the 1960’s, we’ve been telling computers what to do. One simple command at the time.

After each command, the computer tells us how it went, and then we decide what to do next.

AI is introducing a completely new way of interacting with technology.

Instead of telling the computer what to do, we tell the computer what we want, without specifying what steps to take.

Imagine asking it to create “a 3D render of sunflowers in a purple vase”. It will execute numerous steps in the background and return with the final outcome.

But if I’m not happy with the result, how do I tweak it? What do I need to do to get what I want?

The only thing we get is a text box. No guidelines, no rules.

The most exciting time of human-computer interaction is yet to come.
